The Genetics of Migraine & The Stanton Migraine Protocol®

Genetic Mutations Support The Stanton Migraine Protocol®

Sharing a recently published article. It explains the genetic foundation to all of my work and discovery of the ionic pump issues associated with migraines at the voltage gated sodium-potassium channels and ATPhase which is associated with mutations in the glucose metabolism processes.

The article is technical with a lot of jargon but the title tells it all

ATP1A2 Mutations in Migraine: Seeing through the Facets of an Ion Pump onto the Neurobiology of Disease

It discusses hyper sensory organ sensitivity, the mutation of voltage gated pumps that migraineurs need to use extra salt in their diet for. It also provides a genetic mutation base for the glucose intolerance migraineurs seem to have. It is an open access article, so if you are interested and familiar with the terminology, chew your way through it!

My hypothesis, based on which the Stanton Migraine Protocol® is built and the book “Fighting The Migraine Epidemic: How To Treat and Prevent Migraines Without Medicines – An Insider’s View” is written, is provided a solid genetic foundation 2+ years after I published my book and started to treat migraineurs. Very grateful and happy!

Now we know the genetics behind why migraineurs using the Stanton Migraine Protocol® are so successful at becoming and staying migraine and medicine free: we took control of the very channels that have genetic mutations and control the ionic process with precision.

About Angela A Stanton, Ph.D.

Angela A Stanton, PhD, is a Neuroeconomist focusing on chronic pain--migraine in particular--physiology, electrolyte homeostasis, nutrition, and genetics. She lives in Southern California. Her current research is focused on migraine cause, prevention and treatment without the use of medicine. As a forever migraineur from childhood, her discovery was helped by experimenting on herself. She found the cause of migraine to be at the ionic level, associated with disruption of the electrolyte homeostasis, resulting from genetic variations of all voltage dependent channels, gates, and pumps that modulate electrolyte mineral density and voltage in the brain. In addition, insulin and glucose transporters, and several other variants, such as MTHFR variants of B vitamin methylation process and many others that are different in the case of a migraineur from the general population. Migraineurs are glucose sensitive (carbohydrate intolerant) and should avoid eating carbs as much as possible. She is working on her hypothesis that migraine is a metabolic disease. As a result of the success of the first edition of her book and her helping over 4000 migraineurs successfully prevent their migraines world wide, all ages and both genders, and all types of migraines, she published the 2nd (extended) edition of her migraine book "Fighting The Migraine Epidemic: Complete Guide: How To Treat & Prevent Migraines Without Medications". The 2nd edition is the “holy grail” of migraine cause, development, and prevention, incorporating all there is to know. It includes a long section with for medical and research professionals. The book is full of academic citations (over 800) to authenticate the statements she makes to be followed up by those interested and to spark further research interest. It is a "Complete Guide", published on September 29, 2017. Dr. Stanton received her BSc at UCLA in Mathematics, MBA at UCR, MS in Management Science and Engineering at Stanford University, PhD in NeuroEconomics at Claremont Graduate University, fMRI certification at Harvard University Medical School at the Martinos Center for Neuroimaging for experimenting with neurotransmitters on human volunteers, certification in LCHF/ketogenic diet from NN (Nutrition Network), currently working on her certification in physiology, and functional medicine. Dr. Stanton is an avid sports fan, currently power weight lifting and kickboxing. For relaxation (yeah.. about a half minute each day), she paints and photographs and loves to spend time with her family of husband of 44 years, 2 sons and their wives, and 2 granddaughters. 1. Stuart says:

For those with 23andme and other genetic testing of their genome what SNP’s and what variation type are they claiming to be the cause of migraine types?
“To date, about 81 ATP1A2 mutations have been reported in migraine-correlated neurological disease cases in the literature. A complete list is provided in Supplementary Table 1”
Which is not provided or available in supplemental information! I do not access to studies as a some academics do just what is on the web and I spent a bit of time trying to find ATP1A info but there is nothing specific as I suspect it is conjecture as this time as also mentioned in the study.
